Sticks and Stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me… It’s a cute saying but it’s not entirely true, words hurt, they are painful. When we hear that someone has been gossiping about us or intentionally telling people lies about us it cuts us to the core of who we are and leaves scars all over our lives. It happens to us all, but for some reason we never talk about it, why? This needs to change: in the Youth Group I am pastor of we’re going to talk about it… It’s time to stop letting the scars and damage of gossip go on in our lives. It’s time to restore and build up because Proverbs 18:21 says “there is the power of life and death in the tongue” so let’s build each other up with the life that is within our mouths.
